Carlos Guevara (born May 20, 1997) is an American singer from Lexington, South Carolina who finished in 13th place on season 3 of the X Factor USA. He was a part of the Boys catagory, mentored by Paulina Rubio.

Background

Carlos is a high school student from Lexington, South Carolina who used to play football and was vice-president of his class. However, due to his Tourette syndrome worsening, he was forced to withdraw from school. The Tourette's doesn't affect him when he sings.

The X Factor

Carlos audititoned for the show by singing the John Mayer song "Gravity". It earned him four yeses from the judges, who put him through to the next round where he got Paulina Rubio as his mentor.

Four Chair Challenge

Carlos took on the Bill Withers classic "Ain't No Sunshine", impressing the crowd with his gritty vocals. He made his mentor Paulina Rubio's decision an easy one: she picked him to go through to the live shows.

Live shows

For the first live show, Carlos sang a slowed-down version of the Swedish House Mafia hit "Don't You Worry Child". He again made Paulina's decision an easy one as she picked him to be a part of the top 12.

For Motown Night, Carlos sang the Marvin Gaye classic "What's Going On". His performance got him mixed reviews from the judges. Despite that performance, he got a second chance to sing again after a graphics error nullified the votes. For the re-vote show, Carlos sang his "Save Me" song, "Cannonball" by Damien Rice. It ended up being his last performance as he got the fewest number of votes from the week before and was eliminated on November 13, 2013, finishing in 13th place. Had he not been eliminated that night, he would have performed "Mad World" by Tears for Fears.

Post X Factor

Carlos recently collaborated with Khaya Cohen on a duet version of the Imagine Dragons hit "Demons", which is on her YouTube channel. He also recently posted a video of himself covering the Katy Perry hit "Unconditionally", a personal favorite of his, on his own YouTube channel. He even teamed up with rapper MattyB on their cover of the One Direction song "Story of My Life".

Trivia

  • Carlos can do a pretty nice English accent.
  • If he had avoided elimination, Carlos would've sang "Mad World" by Tears for Fears for 80s Night.
  • Carlos' celebrity crush is all the girls in Fifth Harmony.
