|Names||Jennel Annette Garcia|
Jennel Annette Garcia (born June 8, 1994) is an American pop-rock singer from Rochester, Massachusetts who finished in 11th place on season 2 of The X Factor USA. She was part of the Young Adults catagory, mentored by Demi Lovato.
X Factor HistoryEdit
Garcia auditioned for the show in Providence, Rhode Island and impressed the judges with her rendition of "Paris (Oh La La)" by Grace Potter and The Nocturnals. For Task 1 at bootcamp, she gave another satisfactory performance, singing "Sweeter" by Gavin Degraw, being put through to Task 2. She was paired with Tara Simon, who chose "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac(later covered by The Dixie Chicks), giving Garcia little input in the song choice. She gave a shaky performance, but the judges felt that it was good enough to send her through to Judges' Homes. There, she struggled a bit but still managed to impress her mentor, Lovato, and her guest judge, Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, to make it to the live shows.
For the first show, Jennel sang Motley Crue's "Home Sweet Home", and Lovato sent her straight through to the next week, along with Paige Thomas.
The next week, she sang Joan Jett's "I Love Rock 'n' Roll", impressing both the judges and the viewers. However, before the third live show, she realized she had tonsilitis, which made practicing and performing a challenge for her.
For the third week, Jennel sang Tina Turner's classic "Proud Mary". Viewers and critics felt this was a poor song choice on Lovato's part. Though she gave it her all, it didnt work out, and she was in the bottom two. She sang an emotional performance of Hoobastank's "The Reason". All the judges opted to send her home, with Lovato being the only one who voted to keep her in the competition. Jennel was eliminated on November, 15, 2012, placing 11th. Her elimination was very controversial, causing viewers to send Lovato and the other judges death threats for Lovato's song choice, and the judges deciding to send her home.
